About

Hello and thank you for your interest.

You may have noticed that on our homepage Port Jervis is described as “becoming.” That’s because two of the word’s meanings both fit Port Jervis. One meaning is that it is in some way felt attractive while the other means in the process of change.

For those who hold Port Jervis and its tri-states region dear, its history, sense of place, community and resolute spirit have a special appeal just as the plentiful natural beauty in which it finds itself can be deeply appreciated by local residents and visitors alike.

Then too, just as in the past, today Port Jervis again continues to change with a new evolution that by adapting to the times, and through the dedicated common determination and vision of many, is reinventing itself in tangible, meaningful ways.

Since 1999

Inspired by involvement in Port Jervis community affairs that included serving as the city’s public information officer for the Office of Emergency Services, being a principal in efforts to save the city’s last operating theater for a multi-arts community center and with a pivotal task force on tourism, PortJervisNY.com was launched in 1999 as a labor of love by its owner, Robert Eurich.

Though circumstances required relocation from his cherished hometown, Robert’s contributions to the community continue directly as well as remotely through PortJervisNY.com and its social media, something he regards as beneficial to both himself and the Port Jervis/Tri-State area community his PortJervisNY.com website is designed to promote and serve.
