Transportation in Port Jervis, New York

Locally, the City of Port Jervis operates a Dial-A-Bus service that offers the public very reasonably priced transportation in the City limits and three miles into the Town of Deerpark.

Commuter rail service to points east and south, – including New York City – is provided by New Jersey Transit. Additional connections can be made by Amtrak in Manhattan’s Penn Station and through the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, of which Metro-North Railroad is part.

New York Route 17 (future I-86) also connects with the Interstate and lies approximately 30 minutes from Port Jervis.

Passing directly through Port Jervis are the transcontinental U.S. Route 6 (Grand Army of the Republic Highway) and U.S. Route 209 that runs from Ulster, NY, to Millersburg, PA. Following the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway, NY State Route 97 begins its 70-mile course in Port Jervis as it traces the Delaware River through the Upper Delaware National Recreation and Scenic Area to Hancock, NY.
